Inspired Fun Coach – Lori Cloninger Sweeney

The Fun Coach

Lori Cloninger Sweeney has worked in development for more than 40 years with experiences ranging from her undergraduate alma mater, Whitworth University, to Claremont McKenna College to a prep school in Brentwood, California, to Oregon State and OHSU Foundations and Providence Foundations of Oregon. Lori holds a M.Ed. from UCLA. She is the proud recipient of The 2024 Allan Price Award for Distinguished Service from the AFP Chapter for Oregon-SW Washington.

During her career (she is now retired from full-time fundraising and is now a part-time coach), Lori raised major and principal gifts, typically at least $5 million per year, made visits to one-third of the qualification prospects she was assigned each year and invited almost every donor prospect she visits to consider a bequest. She is a native Oregonian who knows the broad landscape of fundraising in this region and is enthusiastic about development. She is the proud mother of Quinn, an engineer in his 20s, who helps with the website and from whom she negotiated lifelong tech support. Lori is married to Jeff, who helps her keep balance in her life.
